Put On Your Pearls, Girls!

For my 16th birthday my grandma, the chicest senior I know, gave me this coffee table book written by Lulu Guinness, a designer, and I instantly fell in love. The best picture book I've ever received, and I was addicted. I read it whenever I was upset, feeling lonely, especially fashionable, to my friends, you name it! I recently went through my coffee table books (I absolutely adore coffee table books) and stumbled upon this lovely book. I reread the book, with feelings of joy flooding back. I especially love Lulu's 12 Suggestions for Women. With this post, I want to share these 12 suggestions with you, and add my own 13th suggestion; go buy this book ASAP! Enjoy, no one is ever too old for picture books!

1. Create a style that is uniquely yours - Don't be a Slave to Fashion

2. Money does not equal style

3. Mix vintage with modern - couture with chainstore

4. If you're feeling fat - why not shop for accessories?

5. Carry bags of personality

6. Never take fashion or yourself too seriously

7. Mutton dressed as lamb is NEVER a good idea

8. Less can be more - but sometimes more is more

9. Beauty comes from the heart - Not from a jar

10. You CAN be too rich or too thin

11. Be who you were meant to be - not who others think you ought to be

12. Put On Your Pearls, Girls!

Not your Average Mom Sweater

Winter in Toronto always presents a challenge; being chic whilst being warm, it's no easy task. Enter the oversized sweater. A way back play back from the 80's, the oversized sweater has become an It Piece for cozy winter fashion, a couple years running. Whether it be vintage, your boyfriend's or Dad's stolen Holt Renfrew Light Blue Cashmere sweater (perhaps I am guilty of this one), or in this case, a sweater from a 'Mom Store' which didn't carry small enough size. This post features my newest oversized sweater, which I bought too big specifically so I could wear it over leggings. I paired this sweater with simple jewelry, pearls and a basic bracelet, so I wouldn't overwhelm my smaller frame with too much going on. The beautiful thing about oversized sweaters is that they are perfect for those casual movie nights or for me as a student, the long days and nights spent in the library. Insert the oversized sweater and leggings whenever you would wear sweats; just as comfy and warm but a million times more chic. Enjoy and stay warm!

Forest Fashions

Playtimes in the forest always makes for a good looking time. This shoot was especially fun because of the serene location. That being said, I am in no way an outdoorsy girl. I definitely enjoy it's beauty, but that's usually from a window or for very brief periods of time. It also helps when you wear over-the-knee boots, because let's be honest, this is the best boot trend since Hunters, for too many reasons to count. I also am absolutely addicted to this knit vest. It's perfect for completing a look but also adds that little bit of extra layering to keep you nice and warm. Enjoy my version of being outdoorsy.
